I really do have a bit of a blood orange obsession, and for good reason. These gorgeous little red oranges only appear for a short time every year, so I always have the urge to use them in EVERYTHING! They are great for topping smoothie bowls, in cocktails and on salads.

Blood oranges lend themselves really well to salads, their acidic quality perfectly balances the earthy, green leaves, and a hit of balsamic vinegar adds just a hint of sweetness. Throw on some avocado for creaminess, some nuts and seeds, and you’ve got yourself a delicious, winter, blood orange salad!

  1. Artificial light can be so tricky!! The winter months certainly force the need for it in my region. These photos (and that salad!!) look so gorgeous. I love oranges and ALLLL citrus!
